From 2001 to 2003 Mr. Ortega was the lead litigator and New Mexico trial lawyer representing Honeywell International in a False Claims Act case arising from allegations concerning a Government contract to upgrade certain systems for the F-16 aircraft. Following an investigation of the allegations by Mr. Ortega along with members of the law firm of Jenner & Block from Chicago, the United States declined to intervene in the case and dropped its criminal investigation into the matter. Honeywell was ultimately granted summary judgment in the False Claims Act case brought by the relator.
